A Border Dispute,
a short story by Sandy writer Rod Miller, is winner of a Finalist
Award in Western Writers of America’s 2006 Spur Awards. The story
is from the anthology Lone Star Law, edited by Robert J. Randisi and
published by Pocket Books in March, 2005. Spur Award winners and finalists
will be honored at the Western Writers of America convention in June
in Cody, Wyoming.
As
a member of the Salt Lake chapter, I would like to announce the release
of my book "Take Ten: Meditations for the Hurried Parent".
This is a collection of essays exploring moments of tenderness, frustration,
humor, and self-discovery in the often-hectic world of parenting.

The current issue (June, 2006) of Western Horseman magazine
includes an article written by LUW member Rod Miller. He wrote about naturalist John Muir and his adventures with horses.
It’s titled “Backcountry Explorer.” The story grows out of Rod's research for John Muir: Magnificent Tramp, a book I wrote for the “American Heroes” series for Forge Books which was published in hardcover in June, 2005, and just released as an audio book by Books in Motion. A soft cover edition of the book is due early next year from Forge.
